Any of you folks carry OWB or open carry? Sure a lot more comfortable and without the fear of some California lunatic calling the cops if I expose my sidearm, not to mention the cooler weather here I finding myself carrying OWB and just wearing a shirt-jac quite often. Open carry is completely legal here but I have to say I don't see it very often, maybe once a month and not nearly as common as Arizona or Wyoming. I still feel almost like I am doing something "wrong" if someone sees it.

Summertime gets pretty darn hot here in Dallas so I carry my Ruger LCPII 380 in a Holster Pro AOWB belt clip holster. Paul Vitagliano - Holster Pro Custom Gun Leather -makes very nice custom leather holsters and I am a big fan. The LCPII only weighs 10.6 oz and it can be worn AOWB very comfortably with the holster. That said, a good belt is imperative for OWB carry. I wear a 1.75" Kore Essentials reinforced core gunbelt. It has a ratcheting type buckle so it is infinitely adjustable.

In the wintertime when a larger weapon can be concealed under heavier clothing a bit easier, I wear my Ruger EC9s AIWB with an Urban Carry Lock Leather holster. It is a leather holster that has a kydex locking mechanism built in that secures around the trigger guard when the weapon is holstered. The best of both worlds. I wear the same belt rig with it also. Kore Essentials makes tactical gun belts and dress gun belts that can be worn with a suit.

After MUCH holster experimentation and the proverbial drawer filled with holsters, these are the combinations I have finally determined works best for me. YMMV.

Wanted opinions 'cause I'm not in the habit of having an extra mag, but I am aware that bad things can happen when/where least expected & I'm considering making it a habit. I've found that the issue in carrying the spare in a pocket, is that my movements can apparently push the top round out of the mag! Have washed clothes & found a round in the washer! :(

'Course, my theory is to run to safety & maybe only one load is sufficient. :p

There is more to it than just "more amo". This is WHY people should seek out skilled instructors.

For one, with most semi automatics a quick way to recover from a FTF is to drop the mag and insert another full one.

For another in the event you HAVE to use your fire arm, how many did you fire? How many do you have left? Are there any MORE threats? Do I have enough left to make my self aware of any thing else?

A fast, easy, dead positive sure way of answering all those questions is to drop the mag and insert a fresh one before clearing all threats at the scene. When you look around and it looks clear, THEN pick up what is left of what you dropped and put it in your mag carrier. Holster your weapon, and call the police.

There are MORE advantages available if you have an extra mag, but just those should be enough to make a guy think hard about it. It is for me.

One really handy thing to know, practice, be aware of with many semi-autos. IF YOU WERE EVER to find your self fighting an attacker for control of your weapon and fearing you are losing. You could possibly drop the mag out by hitting the button rendering it in operable should your opponent gain control. Yet if YOU regain control you can immediately bring it back in to the fight by inserting your SPARE mag. IF the mag drops out on the floor, many criminals may even STOP fighting for something they consider rendered useless.

Sup y'all, from Arizona. As of right now we are still very pro 2nd amendment. No need for ccw, permits or licenses to carry open or concealed loaded or not, as long as you are of legal age. Also not required to register your firearm(s) as it is illegal for any FFL dealer, establishment, city or county to require you to do so. There is only ONE thing required for a private sale of a firearm here.. and that is cash. The rest is optional as long as you are not knowingly selling to a Prohibited possessor. So just to paint a picture of how gun friendly this state is lets say ol Leroy walks down the road to meet his friend Buckwheat in a public area to purchase a 9mm pistol from him. Both are of legal age and are not Prohibited possessors but do not have a ccw or any permits of sort. Leroy gives Buck the cash and takes possession of the pistol. They both say screw it on a Bill of sale and before they part ways Leroy loads his new pistol, racks one in the chamber and conceals it then walks away. And ALL of that was and is legal. That being said because of the times right now and all this stuff going on in our country right now I personally dont like to open carry anymore. A couple of years ago sure, but right now Id rather not as I feel like everyone, including the police are on edge and I would rather avoid any type of ill gotten situation that could possibly come from startling one of these anti-testosterone skirt wearing Biden lovers or some protestor that does not know the consequence of laying hands on the wrong one because their two dads taught them guns are a fairytale. Anyway I carry a Beretta Apx compact IWB soft holster in the summer but now during winter I use a low profile leather shoulder holster as I usually wear a jacket or coat. Maybe in the future I will go back to OWB but as of now id rather not. Just my preference. Sorry for the rant lol

Well there is a distinct advantage to having a CCW in AZ however. First and foremost if you live there IMO, you cannot carry in a place that serve alcohol unless you have a permit and that means Applebee's etc. Unless things have changed since I got my AZ permit in 2017 anyway, the permit just allows you to carry in more places. The other advantage, and it's huge, is when traveling about 35 states recognize your AZ permit.

Welcome to the forum, I love Arizona.
