I have a .45 ACP upper with a birdcage flash hider that looks sort of goofy. It works okay, but it could be improved. The .45ACP doesn't really need anything to help with muzzle rise or recoil. It's just that the bird cage it came with isn't all that sharp-looking.

I haven't had much luck finding .45 cal muzzle devices. Since that 5/8x24 is a pretty standard thread pitch, I was thinking about getting a better looking flash hider and having it opened up a little bit.

I have found are linear muzzle brakes for reasonable prices. They seem sort of goofy. Does anyone have any experience with those?

Edit: I have been avoiding traditional muzzle brakes since I have been shooting indoors so much lately. They aren't forbidden or anything, but the concussion gets tiring for me eventually. I have never tried one on .45 ACP, it might not be too bad compared to .223 or 30 cal cartridges...
